  Save your money and go with IKEA — avoid these guys entirely! We were quoted from them £12K for a kitchen IKEA offered at £4.5K. After being chased by a Howdens sales agent, they immediately agreed to match IKEA's price — cabinets were exactly the same as the one quoted for 12K I just want to highlight. The entire process was a nightmare. From the very start, we were promised a wood-look interior finish at no extra charge. Only after delivery did they inform us this wasn't possible — leaving us with plain white cabinets and no apology. The sales agent also pressured us into taking delivery far earlier than we needed, inventing a fake end-of-sale deadline to hit his targets. The order itself was wrong from the start: missing handles, cabinet door, and skirting boards that were too short. Every correction came with an extra charge (they tried to charge us £200 for a MDF skirting boards saying it was mentioned on the website that was made with solid wood??), quietly eroding the price match we'd been promised. Not to mention, this was a paintable kitchen so few rounds of extra cost to add there as well. To top it all off, the soft-close mechanisms were the cheapest on the market — basic metal sliders with plastic clip-on additions. NOBODY is selling these, not even Ikea. And EVERY DRAWER is partially opening leaving 12cm behind the cabinet (see photo) When I complained that this WASNT THE MATCH WE WERE PROMISED the response (after weeks) was "you need to pay extra if you want the similar soft close mechanis as Ikea" ??? After all this are these guys still asking for more money? The agreement was clear: they would match everything IKEA provided. They didn't. IKEA's quality was superior in every way, at a fraction of the price. Howdens halved their price meaning their prices are completely inflated and delivering less that Ikea. Reached out to the agent and site manager — it's been quite a circus of ball-passing. Need to speak with him, but what did he say? Oh, "we sent the request to QA" (Quality Assistance — sounds very much like an imaginary department). Buying my own soft close mechanism sliders now and not giving a single penny more to these guys. --- Update: customer support contacted me after this review and lead nowhere

  I have been renovating my entire house and dealing with a number of different companies throughout the process. I’ve had smooth, professional experiences everywhere except with Howdens – specifically the Croydon branch, where I dealt with Charmaine. My experience has been terrible from start to finish. The communication was consistently poor, and I have never come across customer service this bad. We were given incorrect measurements for some of the shelves, and every time we visited the branch to resolve the issue, no one seemed informed about anything. The standard answer to every question was essentially, “We don’t know.” After endless back and forth, we finally received the correct replacement shelves. But as soon as that was resolved, another problem appeared – the strip lights that were meant to go under the shelves arrived missing all the necessary parts. I contacted them again and was told the missing parts would be delivered on Saturday. Of course, Saturday came and went with no delivery, and once again the branch had no idea what was going on. We eventually had to go down to the store yet again to sort it out ourselves. Throughout all of this, the plans that were originally done by Charmaine turned out to be incorrect, and when we went in to try to resolve the issues today, she wouldn’t even come down to speak with us. Overall, the service has been absolutely appalling. This has been the only company to cause problems during my entire renovation. Avoid this branch at all costs.

  Known howdens croydon branch for a long time. They helped me open a account. Very accurate and friendly services regarding what I needed and delivered. All the staff are amazing and friendly Strongly recommend howdens croydon and howdens in general. Thankyou howdens Hawks carpentry
